Vienna Jewish Choir

The Viktor Ullmann Foundation in the UK was establised by the concert pianist and painter Jacqueline Cole A.G.S.M., N/R Dip. M.T., in 2002. The aims of the Viktor Ullmann Foundation are to remember and celebrate the life, the works and the genuis of the Prager German composer Viktor Ullmann (1898-1944) who was deported from Theresienstadt concentration camp and murdered in Auschwitz on the 18th of October 1944.

The purpose of this site is to promote the proliferation of Nusach and to make a Nusach readily accessible to those who have a desire to learn and a desire to deepen their Judaism. The site will also be expanded to include information about the origin of this Nusach, the contributors, the motivations and passions that drove the work, and other such matters.

Voice of the Turtle has performed concerts of Judeo-Spanish (Sephardic) music for 22 years. The group's signature instrumental and vocal arrangements of rarely heard repertoire have been heard nationally and internationally, and have been acclaimed by critics including the Boston Globe, The New York Times, London's Jewish Chronicle, and Ha’Aretz in Israel. Voice of the Turtle uses an expansive palette of instruments which reflect the complex and intriguing paths of exile of the Spanish Jews since 1492 through North Africa, the Balkans, and the Near and Middle East -- saz, 'ud, baglama, rebec, kamanja, shawms, chalumeaux, bombards, flutes, middle eastern percussion, as well as modern instruments.

Voices of Sepharad has been delighting audiences with its unique blend of Mediterranean Jewish music, dance and storytelling since 1986. Listen to sound clips excerpted from first and second movements Bass Quintet, a 3 movement piece written for the Nashville Symphony String Quintet, Nathan Kahn, principal bass and Harris Shilakowsky, assistant concertmaster, Nashville Symphony Orchestra Sonatina for 5 a one movement piece premiered at Yale University in Sprague Hall, scored for B flat clarinet, violin, piano, cello and Bass clarinet Fiddlers' Fugue based on the theme from Duettino for two violins (see below) completed for a composition competition, this piece was recorded in a studio on the South Shore of Boston, then digitally remastered along with the Messaien and Ysaye pieces which can be heard on the Recital tape available at Recordings Duettino for two violins written in 1971 while attending the Thelma Yellin School for the Arts in Israel, and premiered there. The Fiddlers' Fugue, scored for five violins is based on the theme from this piece.

Ya Elah is an exciting new spiritual music ensemble based in the Jewish tradition, which endeavors to inspire unity through sacred text. This ensemble of female vocalists and multifaceted instrumentalists performs the original works of Artistic Director Bon Singer.
